MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Montevallo Organization of Gaming, or MOG, hosted its annual renaissance faire on April 15.
The event was held in the Student Activity Center and featured sword fighting, free elf ears, themed beverages like butterbeer and lemonade with edible glitter, various crafting and painting stations and the event ended with a costume contest.
I spoke with the faculty advisor over MOG, Dr. Benton Tyler, on why he loves putting on this event for students of mog and Montevallo.
“Being able to express themselves and it does not cost anything for the students, I think that is a really good aspect of it, it is just stuff they can enjoy a few weeks before finals.” Dr. Tyler stated.
MOG has meetings every Tuesday and Thursday, and anyone is welcome. It is a great way to connect with other students and have a break from studying.
“On a weekly basis, it is just nice to have the students be able to enjoy themselves, take a break from studying, get involved on campus, and meet people and new friends…whether it’s getting involved in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign or finding someone that enjoys playing the same board game you do, you can make some really good connections.” Said Dr. Tyler.
